Segal, Roth embark on H-B voice 'Quest'

George Segal ("Look Who's Talking") and Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2") will provide the voices of Dr. Benton Quest and Race Bannon, respectively, in Hanna-Barbera Cartoons Inc.'s animated series, "The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest," set to bow in fall '96.

Teen actor JD Roth ("Double Dare") will perform the voice of the new, improved Jonny himself. The cast also includes Michael Benyaer (Hadji), Jessie Douglas (Jessie Bannon) and Frank Welker (Jonny's dog, Bandit).

"Jonny Quest," based upon the 1960s primetime series "The Adventures of Jonny Quest," will run an unprecedented 21 times each week in a Monday-Friday strip on three Turner networks -- the Cartoon Network, TBS and TNT -- plus a latenight strip on the Cartoon Network and a weekly run in TNT's Saturday afternoon lineup.

H-B will produce 65 half-hour "Quest" episodes, chronicling the crime-solving adventures of Jonny and the Quest team as they criss-cross the globe and enter the virtual reality-style "Questworld."

The show will utilize state-of-the-art animation technology from Japan's Pacific Animation Corp. and French colorization specialists, Toon's Factory.

"Jonny Quest" also will feature an advanced animation technique, combining manual and computer animation technology that will allow for total control of lighting, special effects and camera movement, creating a partial 3-D effect.
